Watch DEISO ScopeSplit calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3
From your openLCA model to Scope 1, 2 and 3, the 15 categories, uncertainty and the Scope report, in one short tour.
Calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3 from your openLCA model
DEISO ScopeSplit works alongside openLCA, the free, open-source life cycle assessment software developed by GreenDelta. You model your company or product in openLCA with the database of your choice; ScopeSplit calculates your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from that model, splits them into the 15 Scope 3 categories and reports them in your company’s name.
Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation
ScopeSplit calculates the greenhouse gas total of your openLCA model and places every kg CO₂e in one scope only. The split always adds up to openLCA’s own total.
- Scope 1 — direct emissions from your own operations
- Scope 2 — purchased electricity, heat and steam
- Scope 3 — all 15 categories, upstream and downstream
Scope report in your company’s name
A review-ready Scope 1, 2 and 3 report, as PDF or editable Word, with your company’s name throughout.
- Method, boundaries, results, checks and uncertainty
- AI-supported drafting, section by section, with your own key
- A readiness score before you share it for internal reporting or an external review
Three ways into your openLCA model
Monte Carlo uncertainty
A ± range and a 95% interval for each scope and the total, from the uncertainty recorded in your data, or from the DEISO estimate method where your data has none. For one company model or a whole database.
Sensitivity analysis and what-if
See which inputs drive your total. Change an input in the what-if and the scopes update at once, with no new run.
Sankey diagram
The total flowing into Scope 1, 2 and 3 and the 15 categories, in one picture. Export it as PNG or SVG for reports and slides.
One openLCA model. Scope 1, 2 and 3, calculated, checked and reported.
From your openLCA model to a Scope 1, 2 and 3 report in five steps
ScopeSplit calculates your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from the model you already keep in openLCA. No code, no spreadsheet, and your data stays on your computer.
- Install openLCA and your databaseopenLCA is free. Use the database you choose, free or licensed, and the GWP method you report with.
- Model your company or productBuild the model in openLCA as you normally would, or use one you already have.
- Connect ScopeSplit to the modelRead an openLCA export, connect to the live openLCA database, or use processes from an attached library.
- Calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3Choose the model and press Run. ScopeSplit calculates the total and every kg CO₂e of Scope 1, Scope 2 and the 15 Scope 3 categories, checked against openLCA’s own total.
- Review and reportLook at the uncertainty, the sensitivity and the Sankey diagram, then produce the Scope report in your company’s name, as PDF or editable Word.
- Windows, 64-bit. The calculation engine is inside the app
- openLCA with the database of your choice
- A ScopeSplit licence, or the 14-day trial on your own databases of up to 200 processes
Scope 1, 2 and 3 results you can stand behind
Every ScopeSplit run checks its own Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation and shows you the evidence, so the numbers in your report trace back to your openLCA model.
| Check | What it confirms | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Closure | Scope 1, 2 and 3 add up to openLCA’s own total for the model, with any difference shown | Every result |
| Double counting | Six checks that every kg CO₂e sits in one scope only, with the inputs involved | Double counting page and the Scope report |
| Model check | Flags inputs that may be entered twice, such as the same fuel as fuel and as distance, or one purchase by spend and by quantity. It warns; it never changes a number | Model check page |
| Uncertainty data | Which inputs carry uncertainty data, as a percentage, before the run starts | Before Run, then the Uncertainty page |
| Source of every process | The database each process comes from, read from your own openLCA data, and the openLCA database used | Every result |
| Traceable inputs | Each input with its scope, Scope 3 category and kg CO₂e, ready to export to Excel, CSV or PDF | Results page and exports |
ScopeSplit calculates what your openLCA model and its database contain. The quality of the Scope 1, 2 and 3 result follows the quality of the model, and the result is not a verification statement.

Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation with ScopeSplit: your questions
Does ScopeSplit calculate my Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, or only split them?
It calculates them. From an openLCA export, ScopeSplit builds your model’s supply chain and emission factors and calculates the total and every kg CO₂e of Scope 1, Scope 2 and the 15 Scope 3 categories itself. With a live openLCA connection, openLCA calculates the total and ScopeSplit calculates the scope split. Either way, the split is checked against openLCA’s own total.
Do I need openLCA?
Yes. ScopeSplit works alongside openLCA, the free, open-source life cycle assessment software developed by GreenDelta. You keep modelling your company or product in openLCA, and ScopeSplit reads that model. DEISO ScopeSplit is an independent product of DEISO LLC; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by GreenDelta.
Which databases can I use?
The openLCA database you choose and are licensed to use, free or licensed. ScopeSplit includes no database of its own; it reads the processes in your model. For every process it shows the database it comes from, as recorded in your own openLCA data, so a reviewer can see where each number started.
Is my data sent anywhere?
ScopeSplit runs on your computer and does not upload your openLCA model or database. The app contacts DEISO only to check your licence. If you use Chat with results, your question and the figures it needs go to OpenAI with your own API key; your database files are never sent.
Which accounting structure do the Scope 1, 2 and 3 results follow?
Results are structured after the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard: Scope 1, Scope 2 and all 15 Scope 3 categories. Scope 2 is calculated location-based; the Scope report can carry a market-based figure you provide. Biogenic CO₂ and removals are reported outside the scopes. ScopeSplit is not reviewed or approved by the GHG Protocol.
Can I use the results for reporting or an external review?
With a licence, yes. The Scope report gives your method, boundaries, results, checks and uncertainty in your company’s name, as PDF or editable Word. The quality of the result follows the quality of your openLCA model, and the report is not a verification statement. Trial results carry a trial mark and are not for reporting.
What does the 14-day trial include?
The trial calculates your own openLCA databases of up to 200 processes, with 6 calculations and 10 chat questions a day, and every result on screen with a trial mark. Double counting, exports, the Scope report and Sync & Backup come with a licence. Trials are issued to work email addresses after DEISO reviews the request.
How is ScopeSplit licensed?
Each licence runs for one year and covers a number of computers: Pro covers 1, Team covers 3 and Enterprise 4 or more, priced per computer. Every paid plan includes every feature. The licence key is activated on each computer it covers, and DEISO can move a seat if you change computers.
